In 2019, I bought a one-way ticket from Austin Texas to Bali Indonesia with $1500 in my bank account, zero paying clients, and no job prospects. I had a pocketful of dreams and that was enough…

The initial goal was to fulfill my dream of visiting this beautiful island, capture photographs, work from my laptop as a digital nomad, pick up a few freelance clients, and figure out the rest as I went along.

At the time I already had a Balinese villa lined up free and clear for two weeks in exchange for photography and marketing of the property.

Things were difficult at first but I quickly started gaining momentum..

In late January 2020, I flew from Singapore to Phuket, the largest island in Thailand.

This was a few months before the pandemic decimated international travel, tourism, hospitality, and countless other industries worldwide.

Skip to late 2021… I obviously had no intention of living in Southeast Asia for over 4 years. But it’s honestly been the most rewarding and challenging experience of my life. And I wouldn’t take it back for anything!

I’ve been together with my lovely girlfriend (now fiancé) for over 3 years, travelled all over Thailand, worked for a few tech companies, got approved for my Smart Visa through BOI, and sponsored by a company for the work permit.

I’m feeling the urge to get out of my comfort zone and continue traveling to other countries in Southeast Asia… Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Japan.

I’m currently editing this post from 2 years ago in Da Nang Vietnam.

I’m still determined to make Thailand my home base, and more specifically the paradise island of Koh Samui.

One of my utmost goals moving forward is to help inspire people to escape the corporate rat race, live on their own terms & work remotely from anywhere.
